The Aurora Winery celebrated 87 years of history on February, 14th. This date was celebrated with the implantation of two robots in the grapes receivement, in two different unities, one next to the area where will be located the new factory. “We are the first winery in the world to implant robots in this sector”, celebrates Itacir Pedro Pozza, Aurora Winery’s president. The new robots, produced in Germany, came to eliminate the manual work of unloading trucks with grapes, and may discharge up to 3 BIN’s per minute, the equivalent of 1,2 ton of grapes in 60 seconds. The harvest robots join another 4 Japanese robots that the winery already has working in its the warehouse.

Aurora will invest in a new branch, which starts to be built in this month, with 14.000 square meters built in Vale dos Vinhedos, to concentrate the production and loading of grape juices and table wines. Then, the head office can enlarge the wine and sparkling wine production. “It is a mark in the Aurora’s history”, says the president. “This series of investments constitutes in the most significant innovations in the company in the last 50 years”, he evaluates. Besides that, Aurora will invest in new bottling lines with larger productive capacity.

With incomes of R$515 million in 2017, the winery has grown 5%, keeping its leadership in the Brazilian market of pure grape juice, wines and coolers. The winery received 72.000 tons of grapes in the 2017 harvest, from its 1100 associated families, which forms the cooperative, and expects to receive similar quantity and higher quality grapes in the 2018 vintage, which ends in March. “Aurora is the largest winery in Brazil and has the compromise to continue growing and improving”, says Hermínio Ficagna, general director of the Aurora Winery.

The winery has a portfolio of 13 brands and more than 200 items, in addition to third-party brands. Exporting for more than 20 countries, in 2018 Aurora will concentrate its focus in expanding its international sales to Asia, especially with China and Japan. The Chinese market has been very receptive to the Moscato sparkling wines.
